What Is Poke Survivor?

Poke Survivor (PokéSurvivor) is a free Pokémon fan game in the style of Vampire Survivors and Survivor.io. You choose a partner Pokémon and wander an endless map while waves of wild Pokémon close in. Your partner attacks by itself with its active move, so your job is to keep moving, dodge and stay in a good spot.

Each time you collect enough experience you level up and pick one of three cards: a new move, an upgrade to a move you already have, or a boost for your Pokémon. Every one of the 966 Pokémon from all nine regions can be your partner. Rare rifts lead to legendary arenas, there is weather that changes type matchups, and you can team up with up to three friends online. It is a non-profit fan project with no ads or purchases, not affiliated with Nintendo, GAME FREAK or The Pokémon Company.

How to Play Poke Survivor

A run starts with a short personality quiz that picks your partner. From there you survive as long as you can against growing hordes, building up your moves as you level.

Starting a Run

  1. Guest or Account

    Press to start, then play as a guest right away. Guests can play instantly, but their progress is not saved.

  2. Pick a Partner

    Answer the personality questions to get a partner Pokémon, or choose a different one.

  3. Move, Don't Attack

    Your partner fires its active move on its own. You only steer it around the map.

Getting Stronger

  1. Level-Up Cards

    Collect experience to level up, then pick a new move, a move upgrade or a boost for your Pokémon.

  2. Move Evolutions

    A move at max level with the right upgrade evolves, for example Ember into Fire Blast or Bubble into Surf.

  3. Rifts and Legendaries

    Rare portals send you into one of 18 legendary arenas, one per type. Win for a reward; if you fall, you are sent back to the map.

  4. Gacha and Upgrades

    Tickets earned in play unlock more Pokémon in a slot-machine gacha, and coins buy permanent upgrades for each partner.
